I would like to correct some errors in your information before it is further circulated on the internet. Richard George Paris was not the son of Robert Alexander Paris. Robert Alexander had a son George but he was born later and married Jane Congleton. You probably received this information from the Family History Center in Salt Lake which was submitted by Dr. Clark Paris, deceased. It was incorrect when it was submitted.
Richard George Paris and Eve Conn were not married in Clinton Co. Indiana. They were some of the first settlers in Clinton Co., but arrived there in about 1827-29. Clinton Co. Indiana had no white settlers in 1810. Thomas Jefferson Paris was not born in Clinton Co. Indiana, nor were several of his siblings, since the family didn’t live there until later. Please correct your records for this family. Thank you. G Ennis

Does anyone have info. on the birth place or parents of my ancestor, RICHARD GEORGE PARIS (PARRIS) born July 23, 1789, Where? died March 31, 1845 Clinton Co., Ind. He was in Union/Wayne Co. by 1811 at the birth of his first son. He provided money for the first jail in Union Co., residing near Brownsville, Ind. He married EVE (CONN?) (circumstantial evidence only) about 1810. Eve was the daughter of Samuel Conn and his first wife. Samuel’s second wife was Hannah Eli (Ely), daughter of Simon Eli.
Richard may have been a brother to a William and son of a Hannah, taking into account his naming paterns for his children.
He served in the War of 1812 from Indiana, Wayne Co., Capt. John Farlow’s Company, 8th Regt., Indiana Militia, May 18-July 18, 1813.
Richard and Eve moved to Clinton Co., Ind. and resided near Michigantown, Frankfort. Their children were:
1. Thomas Jefferson Paris b. 1811 m. Barbara Ann Young
2. Samuel Paris b. 1813 m. Catherine Burget
3. Mary paris b. 1815 m. Enoch T. Williams.
4. Hannah Paris b. 1820 m. Moses Blystone
5. Sarah Jane Paris b. 1824 m. Isiah D. Rogers
6. William F. Paris b. 1828 m. Frances L. Frazier
7. Nancy Paris b. 1834 m. Jeremiah K. Clark
Richard died March 31, 1845 Clinton Co. Ind and is buried inthe Paris Cemetery. Eve died Mar. 7, 1854 Clinton. Co. Ind and is also buried in the Paris Cemetery.
I don believe Richard is the son of Robert Alexander Paris of Selby Co., Kentucky. Robert had a son George, with a different birth date and he married Jane Colgleton.
In Census records his children list him as born in various place: Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, and Kentucky.
If anyone has information on the birthplace or parents of Richard George Paris(Parris), I thank you in advance for the information.

Hi: I don’t have much on Richard, but his wife, Eve Conn Paris was the sister of my gggrandfather John Conn s/o Samuel Conn and Hannah Ely. (A document signed by the heirs of Simon Ely received by Genforum member Dennis McFerran shows that Hannah Ely was Samuel Conn’s first wife and Mary Myers his second.) Otherwise your posted info about Richard & Union/Wayne & Clinton Co., Indiana is correct. When Samuel was killed ca. 1806, the whole family including, Richard, Eve & other dtr. Hanna Conn Scott & son in law, James Scott, Conn & Ely’s, left Lee County, VA, with Sam’s widow Mary Myers & children under the care of Uncle Naddie Ely (Adam Ely) and eventually ended up in Brownsville, IN. I hope get this message. You (or anyone who reads this and is following this line) can respond here or e-mail me @ linjohnbee@aol.com. Thanks
